    OJSC NORILSK-TAIMYR ENERGY COMPANY Teploelektrocentral-3

    MIKO-2.3 instrument has been used by the Company since December 2010. Measurements of DC resistance using this instrument were made on:

    • Power contacts, solenoid coils for VGM-20, MGU-20, VMPEE-10 circuit breakers;
    • Rotor and stator windings of TVF-120, and TVF-63 generators;
    • Stator windings of DAZO2-18-59-10, DAZO-13-67-6M, 2A3M-5000/6000, VAZ-215-89-20, AV-113-4M, and AV-114-6M electric motors;
    • Windings of TCZS-1000, 3NOM-15, NTMI-10, and 2NOM-10 transformers.

    The instrument is rather simple and convenient in operation due to small weight, independent power supply, availability of a bag. The instrument is rather precise; the measurements are accurate and reliable. Availability of a digital thermometer reduces calculation time when measuring active resistances.

    The MIKO-2.3 can be recommended to all the companies dealing with adjustment, maintenance and operation of electric equipment.

    CJSC IRKUTSENERGOREMONT

    In 2004 prior to maintenance period our Company procured PKV/U2 instrument manufactured by SKB EP. During the maintenance period of 2004-2006 we performed a large number of repairs of high-voltage circuit breakers and each time for the circuit breaker testing we used PKV/U2 instrument. During maintenances we checked circuit breakers U-220, MKP-110, VMT-220, VMT-110, VKE-10, and VMPE-10.

    In 2006 we decided to procure a new instrument PKV/U3 of SKB EP manufacture for testing the high-voltage circuit breakers VVM-500 and VVD-220 (PKV/U3 is designed for a larger number of tests than PKV/U2).

    During maintenance periods of 2006-2009 we checked MKP-110, U-220, VVM-500, and VVD-220 circuit breakers. In 2008 using the PKV/U2 instrument we checked newly mounted high-voltage circuit breakers GL-317 of AREVA firm.

    PKV/U2 and PKV/U3 instruments are easy to operate as detailed and extended manuals are provided. Connection of the instruments for the circuit breaker test is rather simple. Insulation of control wires is of rather high quality and is provided for different climatic conditions. The instruments are very reliable.

    Simplicity of operation and functionality of PKV instruments are their main merits.

    Branch of FAR EASTERN POWER DISTRIBUTION COMPANY South-Yakut Electric Networks

    MIKO-2.3 instrument was procured by the Company in December 2008 and has been intensively used during different tests of electric equipment.

    The Instrument was used for testing VMPE-10, VMG-133, C-35-M, and MKP-110 circuit breakers (Microohmmeter; Milliohmmeter). The instrument is also used for measuring the DC resistance of transformer windings (Milliohmmeter) and for temperature measurements (Digital Thermometer).

    Milliohmmeter mode is the most convenient function. Range of the instrument’s measurements in this mode allows both circuit breaker testing and measurements of DC resistance of transformer windings.

    Main advantages of the instrument are its multiple functionality, low weight and small size, availability of a robust casing and a convenient bag for transportation, as well as availability of accessories.

    The MIKO-2.3 instrument can be recommended to all the companies dealing with electric equipment testing.

    Branch of OJSC OGK-3 "Kostromskaya GRES"

    PKR-1 Instrument has been successfully used by our Company since 2008 for controlling the operation of LTC transformers of TRDNG-32000/220, TRDNS-32000, 40000, 63000/35, TRDN-25000/35 type, and of autotransformers of ADOTsTN-267000/500/220 type. The instrument is robust, reliable, convenient in operation, and is of practical value.

    Unlike other instruments, the instrument allows taking the oscillograms of contacts operation and circular diagram of three phases simultaneously without installing additional external elements, such as connections or external resistors. It also allows cursor measurements of contacts oscillograms parameters. The interface is user-friendly. Graphs can be viewed on the monitor. Under the lack of power supply the instrument can make measurements both from the electric drive and from the manual LTC drive.

    OJSC MRSK OF URALS

    OJSC MRSK OF URALS has been intensively using instruments PKV-35, PKV/U3, PKV/M5, and PKV/M7 in its production activity.

    PKV/M7 instrument has been used since September, 2008. The instrument is convenient is use, has low weight, friendly interface; it allows measurement of parameters of high-voltage circuit breakers 6-110 kV during diagnosis and maintenances. The instruments proved to be efficient for revealing, without dismantling, the deviations from rated parameters of equipment and for identification of the scope of maintenance work.

    Graphic presentation of characteristics is rather vivid and gives the required information about the operation of elements and nodes of circuit breakers (drive operation, contact travel momentum, operation of buffers, dynamic time characteristics, etc.) during the whole cycle of measurements and at any time moment. Under availability of the results of previous checks one can get generalized estimates of the equipment condition and life remained. Thus, instrument allows non-destructive testing of circuit breakers, control of several nodes at a time with high sensitivity, and identification of the incipient defects at early stagesю

    Still, there is an area for perfection of the instruments, software and manuals. Particularly, use of three linear sensors simultaneously instead of one sensor for recording the characteristics and for determination of time delay in the contact travel would considerably reduce the period of measurements.

    On the whole the experience of the instruments operated proved their efficiency in the course of electric equipment maintenance and repair.
