New generation of three-phase milli-ohmmeters: MIKO-12-25A and MIKO-12-50A

SKB EP presents two new three-phase milli-ohmmeters — MIKO-12-25A and MIKO-12-50A, designed to measure the winding resistance of high and ultra-high power transformers, electrical machines, cables, contact connections, and other power equipment.

When developing the new instruments, SKB EP engineers focused on one of the most pressing challenges in modern diagnostics — speeding up measurements of highly inductive objects without losing accuracy. With an output power of up to 400 W and an output voltage of up to 50 V, both instruments quickly saturate the transformer's magnetic circuit, reduce the impact of transient processes, and deliver stable results. The MIKO-12-25A operates at a test current of up to 25 A within a resistance range of 1 μΩ – 50 kΩ, while the MIKO-12-50A raises the test current to 50 A and extends the range to 1 μΩ – 100 kΩ.

Another key advantage of the new instruments is their high level of automation. The MIKO-12-25A and MIKO-12-50A determine the optimal test current automatically or let the user select it manually, take the measurement, calculate the parameters required by inspection regulations, and automatically compare the results with the equipment's nominal values. Once the measurement is complete, the specialist receives already processed data, which shortens analysis time and reduces the risk of errors.

For different types of objects, the instruments offer specialized measurement modes. Automatic sequential and simultaneous measurement across three phases, together with dedicated modes for power transformers and non-inductive objects, streamlines the diagnostic process and ensures highly repeatable results regardless of the complexity of the object.

MIKO-12-25A and MIKO-12-50A’s features go far beyond that of a classic milli-ohmmeter. Both instruments support non-intrusive diagnostics of OLTC equipment using the DRM method, automatically demagnetize the transformer's magnetic circuit after testing, store measurement results in a built-in archive, and feature a color touchscreen display with a modern user interface.
