Manipulating rod is an auxiliary additional equipment for connecting the test cable clamps of various measuring instruments to the bushings of de-energized high-voltage equipment to a height of 4.5 meters from the ground or a tank cover, without the use of ladders or an elevated work platform.

Objects for application:

  • high-voltage circuit breakers of different types;
  • disconnecting, isolating, short-circuiting switches;
  • high-voltage busbars;
  • power transformers, autotransformers, electric reactors.

Device is recommended for use together with all SKB EP groups of instruments as well as with the instruments of other manufacturers. It is available in three sizes:

WARNING!

  • Manipulating rod is the auxiliary equipment for various measuring instruments, and its use, same as the instruments, is only allowed on de-energized high-voltage equipment.
  • When using the manipulating rod, it is obligatory to work with the permissible distances to the current conducting parts of the high-voltage equipment according to the regulatory documents and safety regulations.
  • Electrical personnel certified not lower than the III group of electrical safety and having not lower than secondary education in the field of electrical engineering is allowed to work with the manipulating rod.
  • Full instructions on safe operation with the manipulating rod are indicated in the equipment specification.

Manipulating rod does not require certification. Instructions on safe operation with the manipulating rod are indicated in the equipment specification.

Manipulating rod does not require calibration or verification. Maintenance means periodic inspection of the product on a subject of elements damage.

  • The damaged insulating rod (chips, cracks) should be replaced.
  • The rest of the elements can be repaired on site (depending on the damage).

Together with circuit breaker analyzers PKV/U3.1, PKV/U3.0 and PKV/M7 we recommend to purchase Manipulating rod that is aimed for convenient pole cabels connection to the circuit breaker from the ground or a tank cover for getting time, travel, and speed characteristics without the use of ladders or elevated platforms.

For convenient operation, we recommend a set of 6 pcs. of extension cables SKB010.41.08.000 (2 pcs. are included in the standard complete set of the manipulating rod).

The manipulating rod is recommended to be used together with MIKO-1 and MIKO-21 micro-ohmmeters, as well as with MIKO-2.3 multipurpose low/high resistance meter for test cables connection from the ground or from the tank cover to the bushings of high-voltage circuit breakers, and to the structural elements of high-voltage disconnecting switches and earthing devices for contact resistance measurement, without the use of ladders or elevated platforms.

For convenient operation, we recommend a set of 2 or 6 pcs. of extension cables SKB010.41.08.000 (2 pcs. are included to the standard complete set of the manipulating rod).

Manipulating rod extension cable is made according to a four-wire (Kelvin) scheme with the test current capacity of 100 A in the presence of a good contact.

When working with MIKO-2.3 and a manipulating rod, we recommend using cables: K151 (023.03.00.000), (K152 (023.03.00.000-01); K322 (023.06.00.000-01); K232 (023.07.00.000-01); K233 (023.07.00.000-02); K238 (23.07.00.000-06) or K239 (023.25.00.000).

When working with MIKO-21 and a manipulating rod, we recommend using cables: 039.27.00.000; 039.36.00.000 or 039.35.00.000.

When working with MIKO-1 and a manipulating rod, we recommend using K01 cable (018.10.00.000).

If specialists use or plan to use milli-ohmmeters MIKO-7M(A), MIKO-8M(A), or MIKO-9A, manipulating rod shall be an essential accessory for connecting instrument test cables from the tank cover of power transformers up to 220 kV to high-voltage winding elements without the use of ladders or elevated platforms for active electric resistance measuring and for demagnetizing.

For convenient operation, we recommend a set of 4 or 6 pcs. of extension cables SKB010.41.08.000 (2 pcs. are included in the standard complete set of the manipulating rod).

When working with power transformer OLTC diagnostic systems PKR-2 or PKR-2M specialists may use manipulating rod for connecting test cables from the tank cover of power transformer up to 220 kV without the use of ladders or elevated platforms for receiving oscillograms and circular diagrams of contactor operation.

For convenient operation, we recommend a set of 2 or 4 pcs. of extension cables SKB010.41.08.000 (2 pcs. are included to the standard complete set of the manipulating rod).

Manipulating rod uncovered and in operating condition is recommended to be stored and operated within the temperature range from -15°C to + 45°C with the relative humidity up to 95%, in the absence of impurities in the air, causing corrosion.

It is forbidden to use manipulating rod in conditions of high humidity or under the rain.

Using the rod doesn’t cause any difficulties. It is important to follow the safety requirements and work according to the equipment specification supplied together with the manipulating rod.

Transportation of the manipulating rod is highly convenient: it is supplied in a special cover, and with a bag for the rest of the elements.
