Practical training for Lenenergo, PJSC branch

The workshop’s program was called OPTIMA. It lasted 2 days and took place in the city of Kingisepp, located close to St. Petersburg. More than 15 specialists with little experience in working with high-voltage circuit breakers monitoring and diagnostics control instruments took part in the event.

Not long ago the company bought our PKV/U3.0 and PKV/M6N instruments  that is why it was important for the team to study all the instruments’ aspects as well as specify the options and operating methodic while working with HV circuit breakers.

According to the workshop’s plan, the first day was theoretical. The participants were given information about all the PKV group instruments aimed for HV circuit breakers testing. This included overview of the instruments’ main functions and working principles as well as methodic of testing and measurement operations. Special interest the participants expressed while decoding the results of HV circuit breakers defects based on graphs received. In general, all the participants were very active during the course, asking questions and taking part in the discussions.

The second day was practical and took place in Regenerating plant in the city of Slantsy 110/35/6kV. Technical diagnostic of an oil-immersed circuit breaker was made using  PKV/U3.0 instrument..

PKV/U3.0 was chosen in accordance to the participants’ wish because this instrument is more professional and has more functions compared to PKV/M6N. It maintains all the estimations and shows the diagnostic results. The device needs a computer with a special software which in its turn needs additional settings. At the same time PKV/M6N is very easy to operate, does not need additional setting and enables to get the results on the thermo tape.

Testing methodic as well as linear transducer connection & setting types for speed and travel parameters measurements were demonstrated. Analysis of the values and graphs received were made. The analysis showed some defects of the circuit breaker.

The participants were shown how to work with the circuit breakers analyzers (PKV/U3.0 and PKV/M6N) and how to operate the instruments’ software as well as got all the answers to their questions. The trainer also explained how to analyze the graphs and showed how to detect typical defects of the HV circuit breakers using the graphs.

The attendees noted practical usability and wide function range of the represented instruments.
At the final the participants were examined and provided with the certificates.

Our experience confirms that such individual training programs are a big support for our clients since they enable the specialists to learn how to operate the devices and be more effective while making the graphs analysis. It saves a lot of time compared to self studying. Moreover such an interaction is a good chance for the clients to ask questions and specify the details.

For SKB EP these programs are a good chance to receive a very precise feedback by getting questions from the audience and making practical testing.
